We were also treated to their “extra special guest”, Cheryl Cole, who was the opening act. Cheryl was OK – she and her crew had some impressive dance moves and she has a pretty good voice but her songs are a bit lacking…background noise really.
The Black Eyed Peas, on the other hand, were amazing from start to finish. The costumes were insane, the dancers were ridiculously good and the singing was amazing - very impressive given that rapping generally doesn't sound that good live and that they were often dancing at the same time. They played for two hours non-stop and the sell-out crowd was pretty much jumping the whole time.
We heard all the big hits, but the highlights had to be Will.i.am’s unbelievable free-styling and his DJ set – when he came out dressed in an astronaut/Robocop sort of outfit - and mixed up all sorts of old classics (including Michael Jackson's Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and the Stones' Start Me Up). He is an amazing talent, and that Fergie has a pretty amazing voice!
We were treated to all sorts of gadgets and trickery, including a flying motorbike that one of the band rode on and Will.i.am's DJ station that rose up in the air like a spaceship, fitting with his astronaut gears!
This would have to be the best concert we have been to…and there have been some great ones. Definitely keen to see them again. AWESOME.
