Christmas lights in London

On Monday night we ventured into Trafalgar Square to see the much-hyped giant Christmas tree. Every year Norway gives London a massive tree to be placed in the middle of Trafalgar Square, as a token of thanks for Britain's assistance during WWII. The tree was rather large, although we were both a little disappointed with its lack of decorations - it was unspectacular. So we have put another photo of our little Christmas tree below - it is the finest tree in the land.

From Trafalgar Square we walked through Piccadilly Circus and down Regent Street. All along Regent Street, there are enormous sets of Christmas lights in the shape of big stars that are suspended above the road - they looked really cool. Also Hamleys, the enormous toy store, had gone Christmas light happy and their shop-front looked very pretty. Just off Regent Street there are several big inflatable snowmen hovering above the footpaths - also cool.

On Thursday Tim went along to the Emirates Stadium and met two more Arsenal players, Robin van Persie and Manuel Almunia. We now have signed photographs of those two players to add to the one of Eduardo we got a few weeks ago.

The weather in London has been fairly good this week - Wednesday was a stunner - we even got blue skies!!! We are getting very excited about our Christmas trip to Slovenia. We travel there on Tuesday night. The forecast for Ljubljana for the next week looks quite good - a lot warmer than Prague was for us last Christmas! We should get highs of between 2 and 6 degrees in Ljubljana and a there is a chance of snow.
